Abstract

Appendectomy is a procedure that can cause pain. Pain is an experience that is expressed differently by each person. Postoperative client appendectomy requires maximum care that can help restore body function. One of the nonpharmacological therapies that can relieve pain is early mobilization and spiritual relaxation. Early mobilization is useful for distracting clients from perceived pain. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of a combination of early mobilization and spiritual relaxation on the pain level of clients post operative appendectomy at Surabaya Islamic Hospital. This study was used an experimental quasy research design: pre-posttest control design group. The sampling technique was used consecutive sampling involving 18 controls and 18 intervention groups. The analysis was used independent t-test with The results showed the mean reduction in pain in the intervention group 2.67 and the control group 1.61. Data analysis using independent t-test showed that p = 0,000 showed that there were significant differences between pain scales before and after early mobilization and spiritual relaxation. Combination of early mobilization and spiritual relaxation can decrease level of client of post operation of appendectomy. Early combination and spiritual relaxation was expected to be part of the intervention to manage pain in postoperative appendectomy patients so that nurses can be inserted at Surabaya Islamic Hospital.
