Abstract
Research has been carried out with the aim to determine the effect of pressure and distance variation of airbrush spray method on the characteristics of hydroxyapatite-gelatin coating in SS 316L and to determine the optimal pressure and distance that produces the best HA-gelatin layer. In this study SS 316L metal used was diametre at 5 mm with thick 5 mm and 3 mm and thick at 4 mm with diametre 50 mm coated with 4 grams of hydroxyapatite-gelatin with variations in the distance of 10 cm, 15 cm, 20 cm and a pressure of 30 psi ( 0.21 MPa) and 40 psi (0.27 MPa). The coating method used is an airbrush spray. The characterization performed on the sample was SEM / EDX Test, XRD Test, Pull-Off Test and Degradation Test with SBF solution. Pressure variations and distance of the nozzlesubstrate affect the characteristics of the hydroxyapatite-gelatin layer in SS 316L. In SEM it can be seen that the greater the pressure on the compressor water and the farther the distance from the nozzle to the substrate, the thickness of the layer obtained increases. In the sticking power the greater the pressure on the compressor water and the farther the distance of the nozzle, the greater the adhesion of the coating to the substrate. However, the A32 sample has decreased, this is due to the process of making the sample an error in the air compressor that is not optimal in its use. SEM / EDX results were found in the A32 sample with a distance of 20 cm and a pressure of 40 psi (0.27 MPa), with an average thickness of 165.33 μm. While the best results of the Pull-Off test are in the sample A22 with a sticky strength value of (7.83 + 3.61) MPa. The best results of the degradation test are in the sample A22. So that the best sample is in the sample A22.
