Abstract

Focus of this study was to explore the effect of varying concentrations of gelatin in sufficient mechanical integrity of piroxicam orally disintegrating tablet. Freeze drying was selected for preparation method for imparts disintegration time beside the using of superdisintegrant CMC-Ca 2,5%. Tablet were evaluated for hardness, friability, in vitro disintegration time, content uniformity and disolution. The results show that mechanical strength of the tablet increased by increasing of gelatin concentration. The hardness and friability of tablet prepared using gelatin 2% was significantly improved compared to other two varians of gelatin concentration evaluated. All of the formula has disintegration time less than 30 seconds.
