Abstract

The influence of polyvynilpyrolidone K-30 (PVP K-30) on dissolution rate and physical quality of the tablet fraction Andrographis Paniculata Nees made by means of solid dispersion was observed in this research. Solid dispersion of the tablet fraction Andrographis Paniculata Nees were prepared by solvent method. Dissolution test and physical quality test was applied to the four formulas. F0 is control formula, F1 is formula with 5 mg of PVP K-30 each tablet, F2 is formula with 15 mg of PVP K-30 each tablet, and F3 is formula with 25 mg of PVP K-30 each tablet. Tablets were made with the weight of 400 mg each tablet, with 11mm punch size, and pressure of 1 ton for 3 seconds Formula with 5 mg of PVP K-30 each tablet were found to have higher dissolution rate, it caused by the reduction of andrografolid’s particle size and also by the wettability and solubility properties of PVP K-30. While to test their physical quality, the formula with 25 mg of PVP K-30 each tablet shows the level of hardness tablet is large and tablet disintegration is long but still meet the specifications in accordance with the requirements of traditional medicine
