Abstract

Backgrounds, Bisoprolol is one of Acute Myocardial Infaction therapy. The use of bisoprolol may reduce the risk of death in patients with AMI. Bisoprolol has a beneficial effect. It reduces the oxygen demand of the heart by decreases heart rate, systole blood pressure, and myocardial contractility. Objectives, This aim of the study was to analyze the utilizing of bisoprolol on acute myocardial infarction patient in Dr. Soetomo General Hospital Surabaya. Methods, The study prospective using data from 26 patient’s medical records during the period March 15, 2012 – June 15, 2012 and was analyzed descriptively. Result and discussion, The common initial dose for bisoprolol is 1,25miligram per day. It’s about 80,77%. Titration dose of bisoprolol for AMI therapy in Dr.Soetomo hospital is start from 1,25miligram until 5miligram, this changed is followed by monitoring heart rate, blood pressure and electrocardiogram. Most of AMI patients was given bisoprolol for more than 24 hours because there were clinical conditions that didn’t allow to give. Conclusions, Drug utilization of bisoprolol at acute myocardial infarction in Dr.Soetomo General Hospital were appropriate according to American Heart Association (AHA) Guideline Recommendation
