Abstract

Determination of nystatin in ovule was important to ensure the safety and efficacy of nystatin that used for local candidal infection. The aim of the present study was to obtain a valid UV spectrophotometry method for determination of nystatin in ovule preparation. The maximum wavelength of nystatin was found to be 306 nm. The responses of nystatin were linear with concentration in the range of 4.980 – 11.951 ppm with a correlation coefficient (r) value of 0.9991 and Vxo of 1.71%. The accuracy of the method was calculated as % recovery. The mean of recovery in the concentration of 80%, 100%, and 120% was 99.80%; whilst the precision calculated as the relative standard deviation (RSD) was 1.01%. The method showed good results and fulfill the validation requirements.
