Abstract
Microparticles of ketoprofen could be developed to decrease gastric irritation and extend absorption. Microparticles of ketoprofen were prepared by spray drying using chitosan concentration 0,125% (F1), 0,25% (F2) and 0,5% (F3). Microparticle formation process taken by added Sodium tripoliphospat as cross-linker to chitosan solution. The aim of this research was to investigate the effect of chitosan concentration on physical characteristic, drug content and drug release of chitosan microparticles of ketoprofen. The result showed that microparticle ketoprofen-chitosan had spherical shape with diameter of microparticles 2,17μm (F1) and 2,51μm (F2). Drug content and efficiency encapsulation of microparticles were higher but the drug release rate was slower as chitosan consentration increased.
