Abstract

The aim of the present study was to describe pharmaceutical care profile of long-term therapy in patient with hypertension at community pharmacies in East Surabaya. These four variables were patient need asssessment, types of information related to medicines and non-medicines, and monitoring that given by pharmacy staff to a client who requested hypertension drug by prescription. Cross sectional study was conducted in April 2012 until Mei 2012 by collecting data from 70 respondents from 15 pharmacies. The sample was taken through a non random sampling. Data were analyzed by SPSS. Result showed that the majority of pharmaceutical care profile of long-term therapy that provided by pharmacy staff was about drug information related how to take hypertension drugs (37%), time to used hypertension drugs (47%), and frequency of hypertension drugs use in daily (46%). Pharmaceutical care profile of long-term therapy in patient with hypertension that provided by pharmacy staff was limited. However, further studies are required in order to explore poor quality in pharmaceutical care profile of long-term therapy especially in patient with hypertension.
