Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of barnacle meal (Cirripedia sp.) as a fish meal substitution on feed consumption, body weight gain and feed conversion ratio of Rex buck. The experimental design used was Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 repetitions each. The experimental animals used for this research 20 Rex buck aged 3-4 months. The treatments used in feed were P0 (complete feed 100% with 15% fish meal), P1(complete feed 100% with 12.5% fish meal and 2.5% barnacle meal), P2 (complete feed 100% with 10% fish meal and 5% barnacle meal), P3 (complete feed 100% with 7.5% fish meal and 7.5% barnacle meal). The data was recorded at the fourth week after observation based on feed consumption, body weight gain, and feed conversion ratio. Data were analyzed with ANOVA (Analysis of Variance). Average of feed consumption of P0 to P3 were 115,54; 113,09; 114,74 and 113,31 g/head/day. Average of body weight gain of P0 to P3 were 19,99; 20,79; 20,61 and 20,65 g/head/day. Average of feed conversion ratio of P0 to P3 were 5.82; 5.49; 5.58; 5.49. The result showed with no significant difference (p>0.05) based on feed consumption, body weight gain, and feed conversion ratio in Rex buck.
