Abstract

Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) is needed to fulfill customer need on health care services. Unfortunately, there was inconsistency between Championship Program implementation and long-term quality improvement program in Surabaya Oncology Hospital. This was adescriptive evaluation research with quantitative approach. Questionnaires were deployed to 13 Championship Program compilers and 29 participants. In Championship Program implementation, the majority of program compilers and program participants were committed. They perceived that Championship Program as a form ofCQI. Spearman bivariate test showed that there was no significant correlation between commitment and perception of program compilers (p>0.05). There was a significant correlation between perceptions and commitment of program participants (p=0.015). It meant that the more important program participants’ perception of the program makes them more committed. Meanwhile there were still no indicators measuring program achievement. There was no special allocation time to participate in Championship Program. This research showed that the success of CQI depend on the perception of program participants about how important this program was. It also depends on how committed participants in the program implementation. The program barriers which identified in this research were participants-compilers feedback on the planning and implementation. The feedback never been evaluated as program materials.
