Abstract

Investigation by using Sambiloto extract as antibacterial agent of Staphylococcus aureus and Coagulase Negative Staphylococci should be done to solve mastitis problems. The experiment was used 70 milk samples that collected from Nongkojajar and Batu Dairy Herds for identification and isolation of Staphylococcus aureus and Coagulase Negative Staphylococci. From mastitic milk samples were identified isolate S. aureus by Staphylococci are perfectly spherical cells about 1 micrometer in diameter and grow in clusters, β hemolysis, coagulase (+), catalase (+) and Gram (+), however Coagulase Negative Staphylococci have coagulase (-). Antibacterial test against some bacteria from the milk of dairy cows mastitis performed using the diffusion method of Kirby Bauer. Antibacterial discs were given the extract powder of sambiloto 0 mg, 125 mg, 250 mg and 500 mg in 70 cc of water solvent. The result showed that there was no antibacterial activity from sambiloto extract againts isolates of Staphylococcus aureus and Coagulase Negative Staphylococci (CNS) were collected from Nongkojajar and Batu dairy herds Keywords: Staphylococcus aureus, CNS, antibacterial test, sambiloto extract
