Abstract

The objective of the research was to know and describe the changes of the bull fight function on the society in Jember. The research area chose was the northern part in Jember because the majority of the place or area consists of Madurese etnies who love taking care of fight bulls as the light conducting bull fighting. The design used in this research who’s descritptive qualitatitve. To get the data, observation and questionnaire, as well as, document were used. The informants were decided as many as 40 persons consisting of the fight bull owners, toking rabat, and gambler. The result of research is the bulls fight function in society has changed the first function of bulls fighting is for entertain and as say thank you for God because of good harvest. After that bulls fight has function for celebrity of the Moslem great days and national great day. Recently that the bulls’ fighting is become business and gambling, that is the other functions from bulls fighting. Now bulls’ fighting is doing to continue them hobby and as depend of culture heritage from their ancient. The show of bulls fighting is not having time schedule that is “Cacagan”. Key words: Bulls fights function, bull owner, “toking rabat”, and “Cacagan”.
