Abstract
The process of development and economic growth carried out by many countries in various parts of the world is carried out to improve the standard of living of the people in each country. Every country wants to improve the quality of life through economic development. Economic development and growth is carried out by utilizing available resources to achieve certain goals, in this case increasing the welfare or standard of living of the community. Welfare is meant by the expansion of economic and social choices. The economic and social activities of the community turned out to have a negative impact on the environment. Basically the environment tends to have assimilative abilities so that at a certain level of pollution, the environment can still cope naturally. In the course of time the reality shows that at a certain level, economic activity is still able to overcome this pollution problem by using waste cleaning technology. But the environment in this recovery effort can be achieved if the rate of pressure of human activity is lower compared to the rate of recovery of natural resources we called assimilation capacity.
