Abstract

This study was aimed to evaluate the sterility of gloves which had gone through reuse process at CSSD RSUD Dr. Soetomo and to determine frequency limit of open-close tromol which able to mantain sterility of gloves. Reuse was conducted to reduce medical waste and saving cost. Reuse process includes washing, drying and sterilization. Sterilization method using gas with formaldehyde tablet at 60 o C for 8 hours. Sterility test procedure refers to the I ndonesian Pharmacopeia IV with direct inoculation method then incubated for 14 days. Samples is taken at 0, 1 st , 2 nd , 3 th , 5 th , 7 th , 9 th , 11 th , 13 th , and 15 th open-close t romol . Media that being used are fluid thyoglycollate medium for detection of bacteria and soybean casein digest medium for detection of fungi. Replication was conducted 3 times. The control of sample testing were fertility test medium, sterility test medium, sterility test container, and LAFC effectivity test. The result shows that reused gloves at CSSD RSUD Dr. Soetomo using formaldehyde tablet at 60 o C for 8 hours is sterile. Unsterile condition of gloves on 9 th open-close t romol . Therefore, it needs to use packages (pouches) for packing gloves. In order to get good storage condition, tromol should be placed in a special room.
