Abstract

Background- One of the drugs used in therapy Atrial Fibrillation is antithrombotic, which will inhibit the coagulation of blood. Antithrombotic has several groups, i.e antiplatelet and antricoagulant. Each groups has a different work mechanism and dose calculation. Objective¬- The aim of the study was to identified the utilizing of antithrombotic at Atrial Fibrillation patients and Drug Related Problems (DRPs) according to using of antithrombotic in Dr. Soetomo Surabaya General Hospital. Methods- The Analysis was conducted descriptively by using patient’s medical record (cross sectional prospective) who underwent from July to December 2010 antithrombotic in Dr. Soetomo Surabaya General Hospital. Results-ASA was the most antithrombotic type that given to AF patients (93%). Besides Aspirin, there are other drugs used for antithrombotics in Atrial Fibrillation. The antithrombotics are Clopidogrel (17%), Cilostazol (3%), Warfarin (17%), Heparin ( 3%), and Enoxaparin (7%). The duration treatment for that antithrombotics was 1-14 days. Conclusion- Drug utilization of antithrombotics in Dr. Soetomo General Hospital were not according to American College of Cardiology (ACC) and American Collage of Physicians
