Abstract

Ten isolates of Streptomyces sp . had been isolated from Rumah Kompos Bratang Surabaya’s soil. Four of them have been performed antibacterial activities which were expressed as inhibitory zone against bacter ia test. The aims of this research are determining the antibacterial activity profile of Streptomyces sp . A, F, G, and I isolates against Pseudomonas aeruginosa as the bacteria test, and determining the potency ratio of these isolates compared with antimicrobial agent Streptomycin as the standard test. The antibacterial activity and ratio potency ar e measured from an inhibition zone which shown as a clear area. The result shows that Streptomyces sp . A, F, G, and I isolates have the antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa . Two isolates of Streptomyces sp . which have onset of activity 24 hours after im plantation are Streptomyces sp . F and G, while the other show antibacterial activity ons et of action 48 hours after implantantion. All of the Streptomyces sp . isolates have 14 days duration activity. Peak activity of Streptomyces sp . isolates are mostly on 96 hours after implantation. The potency ratio of Streptomyces sp . A, F, G, and I isolates, compared with antimicrobial agent Streptomycin sulphate as the standard, has been determine d. The result shows that the potency ratio of Streptomyces sp . A, F, G, and I isolates are 80.71 %, 90.49%, 66.16% and 93.57% respectively.
