Abstract

Coronary heart disease is the leadi ng cause of death in many countries, both developed and developing countries, including Indonesia. The main cause of this disease is the presence of atherosc lerotic plaque that can clog coronary arteries, where atherosclerotic plaque caused by high levels of cholesterol in serum, particularly LDL (low density lipoprotein). This study aims to look at patterns of drug use in coronary heart disease patients with hyperlipidemia at Heart Po ly Dr. Soetomo during the period of March 2010. This study is descri ptive and cross-sectional. It was found that the pattern of drug use in coronary heart disease patients with hyperlipidemia are as follows : therapy used to prevent angina and ischemia, among others, β -blockers that are used by as many as 75.51% of patients, nitrates are used by as many as 63.26 % of patients, and calcium channel blocker that is used by 46.94% of patients. Then, the therapy used to prevent the formation of atherosclerotic plaque and thro mbus such as aspirin are used as much as 81.63% of patients and cl opidogrel are used by as many as 12.25% of patients. In addition, there are therapies that are us ed to reduce cholesterol levels in serum among others, simvastatin is used by as many as 71.43% of patients and fibrat used by as much as 2.04% of patients.
