Abstract

The aim of this research is to investigate the effect of stirring rate and nozzle size on physical characteristic of diterpene lactone fraction-chitosan nanoparticles. Nanoparticles were prepared bay ionic gelation and dried by spray drying. There were four types of treatment with process parameters were studied, stirring rate (500 rpm and 1000 rpm) and nozzle size (1 mm and 0,5 mm). The result showed that nanoparticles had spherical shape, particle size with various size from <1000 nm and > 1000 nm. From 2x2 factorial design of analysis on drug entrapment efficiency was at a 95 % confidence interval, showed that stirring rate had a significant effect but nozzle size did not have a significant effect.
