Abstract
The aim of the present study was to make comparison of characteristic of p-methoxycinnamic acid (MA) from nanoemulsion vehicles containing soybean oil, non ionic surfactant (Tween 80-Span 80), and ethanol 96 % as co-surfactant. Three nanoemulsion formulations with oil : water ratio (1:20, 1:25 and 1:27,5) was created, and their physicochemical properties were examined for the appearances, conductivity, size measurement and distribution by dynamic light scattering, also solubility test of p-methoxycinnamic acid. According to appearances evaluation seems all formulation have clear yellow color and less viscous consistency. The conductivity result of MA-unloaded formulation (4.17 – 5.17 ms) almost the same as MA-loaded nanoemulsion (4.15 – 5.10 ms). From the size measurement evaluation MA-loaded formulation of 1:20, 1:25 and 1:27,5 has droplet size about 793.6 nm, 422.7 nm, and 149.0 nm respectively, higher than MA-unloaded formulation 648.9 nm, 220.3 nm, and 50.7 nm respectively. Based on analysis of variance (ANOVA) test, the soluble capacity of all formulas do not have significant differences.
