Abstract

The aim of the study was to compare of characteristic of p-methoxycinnamate acid from nanoemulsion vehicles containing corn oil, non ionic surfactant (Tween 80-Span 80), and ethanol 96 % as co-surfactant. Three nanoemulsion formulations (1:20, 1:25 and 1:27,5) were formed, and their physicochemical properties were examined for the organoleptics, conductivity, droplet size and distribution by dynamic light scattering. Solubility test of p-metoxycinnamic acid was also conducted. According to organoleptic evaluation all formulations have clear yellow color and slightly viscous consistency. The conductivity result of unloaded formulation (3,35-4,33 mS) was almost similar to drug-loaded nanoemulsion (3,52-4,67 mS). From size measurement, drug-loaded formulation of 1:20, 1:25 and 1:27,5 has droplet size of about 584,8 ± 18,97 nm, 176,2 ± 4,09 nm, and 157,4 ± 5,98 nm, higher than unloaded 232,6 ± 24,59 nm, 63,9 ± 0,76 nm, and 55,0 ± 2,99 nm. Based on analysis of varians (ANOVA) test, the soluble capacity of all formulas were significantly different.
