Abstract
There were some points that could be concluded from this final report about using repetition drill in teaching speaking which answered the two statements of problems, common problems appearing in applying repetition drill and the solutions to overcome the problems. Firstly, the 4th grader’s problem at SD Ta’miriyah Surabaya is that the students are still afraid of speaking English. Sometimes students get stuck and do not know what they want to say, to overcome them, the writer used repetition drill. The students will get new vocabulary, structures presented through dialogs, which are learned through repetition. By using repetition drill, it makes the students more active and cooperative during the speaking class. While the problem in teaching speaking using repetition drill is students tend to be bored because the procedure is only repeated the sentences and memorizing sentence patterns.
