Abstract

Human Immunodeficiency Virus infects CD4 T cells, leading to a decrease in cell-mediated immunity that allows the rapid development of active Tuberculosis disease. Long treatment with anti tuberculosis on AIDS patients present side effects and toxicity. Besides, presence of other diseases can also cause a high prevalence of multiple drug therapy that increases potential interactions of anti tuberculosis agents with other drug. The aims of this study was to analyze the use of anti tuberculosis and to identify drug related problems on AIDS patients at Rumkital Dr. Ramelan Surabaya. The study was conducted from January 1st, 2010 until April 30th, 2013 on total of 18 patients. It was an observational study with retrospective design. The results showed that co-infection of Tuberculosis and AIDS was experienced by male more than female while the age range of most patients that were in the group was 25-44 years. Most of the comorbid diseases were pneumonia and candidiasis. Anti tuberculosis used were first category including isoniazid, rifampicin, ethambutol, and pyrazinamide.
