Abstract

The experiment was conducted to know the histopathological view of pyramid cell on cerebrum of white rat (Rattus norvegicus)due to methylmercury exposure which administrated with CDP-Choline as neuroprotective agent. Twenty five rat’s divided into five group with 30 day treatment. The control grup (P0) was given 0,5 ml aquades, P1(methylmercury 0,02 mg/kg), P2(methylmercury 0,04 mg/kg), P3(methylmercury 0,02 mg/kg + CDP-Choline 100 mg/kg) and P4(methylmercury 0,04 mg/kg + CDP-Choline 100 mg/kg). ANOVA showed histopathological pyramid cell necrosis significantly different between group. Subsequently continued with Duncan multiple range test. Duncan test showed histopathological view of P0, P1 and P2, significanly different between group with P2 have higher necrosis rate than P0 and P1. Group P1 and P3 showed significanly different, with P3 have lower necrosis rate than P1, as well as with P2 and P4, group P4 have lower necrosis rate than P2. The conclusion of this research is methylmercury with dose 0,04 mg/kg (P2) has higher necrosis rate than the other group and CDP-Choline dose 100 mg/kg can protected pyramid cell from cell damage (necrosis), consequent from methylmerkuri exposure.
