Abstract
Cancer is a degenerative disease that appears in various age groups and genders, but the number of people who have recovered from this disease has increased by 35%. However, most of the cancer survivors who was treated with chemotherapy agent get negative effects like peripheral neuropathy pain that reduce their quality of life. Platinum-class chemotherapy drugs have the higher prevalence in occurring this pain. Since antioxidant compounds like quercetin may prevent this negative effect, we focused on the potential effect of quercetin in reduce or cure the peripheral neuropathy. Through mechanical allodynia parameters with von Frey test, we can measure the withdrawal threshold of the animal. Injection of quercetin 50 mg/kg intraperitoneally can significantly increase the withdrawal threshold in animal which previously induced with oxaliplatin.
