Abstract
Pure titanium and titanium alloy are materials commonly used as dental implants. Pure titanium and is less bioactive, thereby reducing its osseointegration with the surrounding tissue. Likewise in the surgical process it is often accompanied by postsurgical infections. To overcome the two, it is necessary to do surface modification by coating it with Hydroxyapatite as a bioactive material and AgNPs as an antiinfectious material. The purpose of this study is to compare 2 AgNPs-HA coating methods on titanum and titanium alloy substrates and determine coating methods that provide better coating characteristics in terms of layer adhesion, surface morphology, antibacterial properties, and cell proliferation. The research method used is literature review by using 10 main reference journals as a source of information which will then be compared 2 methods of coating AgNPs-HA on pure titanium substrate and titanium alloy. The review results show that the plasma spray method provides a layer that is superior to the EPD method in terms of the adhesive strength of the layers, SEM test results, and cell proliferation. The adhesive strength of the coating with the plasma spray method ranges from 15-17 MPa while the EPD method is 12 MPa. SEM results showed that surface morphology of the plasma spray method contained fewer cracks and lumps than the EPD method. The result of AgNPs-HA cell proliferation with plasma spray method approaches the cell proliferation in the HA layer only while the AgNPs-HA layer proliferation with EPD method is almost the same as substrate proliferation without coated. In terms of antibacterial properties both methods give good results and there is no significant difference.
