Abstract
The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of giving a combination cream of red ginger extract and honey in reducing the number of Polimorfonuclear (PMN) cells and macrophages cells in skin excision wounds on white rats. This study consisted of 5 groups each consisting of 4 rats, the group was divided into K0 as a control (cream base), K1 as a comparison (Silver Sulfadiazine cream), K2, K3, and K4 were group that were given combination cream of red ginger extract and honey with concentration of red ginger extract and honey are 8%, 16%, and 20%. The white rats were given an excision wound covering an area of 1x1 cm on the back of the white rats, after that they were given treatment by giving the appropriate cream 2 times a day for 14 days. On the fifteenth day, euthanasia was carried out and samples were taken from rats. The results of data analysis using one-way analysis of variance (Anova) showed that combination cream of red ginger extract and honey reduced the number of PMN inflammatory cells and macrophages and then continued using the Duncan test (SPSS 16.0), indicating thet there was significant difference between groups (P<0,05), so it can be concluded that the combination cream of red ginger extract and honey with concentration of 20% is more effective in reducing the number of PMN inflammatory cells and macrophages.
