Abstract

Chemotherapy in the breast cancer requires a variety of side effects that require high resilience to undergo it. Low resilience caused breast cancer is not compliant with chemotherapy treatment, dropp out, increase morbidity and mortality. The purpose of this study to analyze the factors associated resilience of cancer patients undergo chemotherapy in RSUD.Prof.DR.W.Z. Johannes Kupang. Method: The design was cross-sectional. The population in this study was 122 people and obtained a sample of 100 respondents with purposive sampling technique. The independent variables are hardiness, education, economic status, side effects of chemotherapy, family support and anxiety. The dependent variable is resilience. The instruments in this study were the hardiness questionnaire, Chemotheraphy-Sympton Assessment Scale (C-SAS), family support questionnaire, Zung-Self Rating Anxiety Scale (ZSRAS) and Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC). Data were analyzed with Spearmen's Rho. Results: Variables related to resilience were education, economic status, side effects of chemotherapy, and family support (p = 0.00, r = 0.31; p = 0.00, r = 0.416; p = 0.00, r = 0.369; p = 0.004, r = -0.283; p = 0.00, r = 0.579), anxiety is not related to resilience (p = 0.231, r = 0.121). Discussion: Handling side effects of chemotherapy and family support was increased breast cancer resilience in supporting chemotherapy. Further studies factors related to the side effects of chemotherapy and nursing interventions reducing the side effects of chemotherapy
