Abstract

Background: Airlangga University applies problem-based learning methods to support students' ability in problem solving skills. Especially in the learning program at the Faculty of Medicine, Airlangga University, PBL is implemented in the Integration Block. Educational institutions follow technological advances by implementing online discussion forums as a medium for channeling messages, hereinafter referred to as e-forums. The Faculty of Medicine, Airlangga University also implements an e-forum in the PBL learning method. Objective: To determine students' perceptions of e-forums in the Problem Based Learning method at the Faculty of Medicine, Airlangga University by measuring student satisfaction, mechanisms and quality of e-forum implementation. Methods: This study used a descriptive study design with a Likert scale questionnaire as a research instrument. The variables used include students' perceptions of satisfaction, mechanisms and quality of e-forum implementation. Results: There were 193 students who filled out the questionnaire. The majority of respondents expressed satisfaction with the e-forum, based on one item of the statement, it was found that 65.3% agreed that e-forum improved the quality of independent learning. The majority of respondents stated that the e-forum implementation mechanism was appropriate. Based on one finding, 68.9% agreed that the duration of the e-forum implementation was sufficient. The majority of respondents stated that the quality of the implementation of the e-forum was good, based on one of the findings, 72.5% agreed that students actively gave opinions. Conclusion: There is satisfaction with the implementation of the e-forum, the maximum implementation of the e-forum is in accordance with the existing mechanisms and the quality of the implementation of the e-forum is good
