Abstract

I would like to conclude the discussion in the previous chapter. The first point that could be concluded from this final report is the strategies used in communication with international students. And the second point is the expressions used in communication with international students. By understanding the theories of communicating with international students, I learned how to communicate with international students properly. During my internship from 2nd January 2020 to 29th February 2020 in International Services Division Airlangga Global Engagement, I had several tasks that were providing welfare services such as pick-up service, accommodation, study permit, and cultural orientation. In terms of strategies used in communication with international students, there are several strategies listed in this final report. The first one is showing friendly behaviour which I did by assisted students even though he did not follow what the staff had told him before, exercising patience which I did by informing the international students about dress code again and again, frequently checking for understanding which I did by checking the international student’s accommodation, and the last is dealing with language difficulties which I did by asking international student’s friend to translate the presentation. In terms of expressions used in communication with international students, there are seven expressions listed in this final report. Those are expressions to welcome the audience, to introduce myself, to say what the topic is, to explain why the topic is relevant to the audience, to tell people about my job, to remind people to do things, and to give advice and suggestions.
