Abstract

This study was to determine the effect of Ambon banana stem sap cream (Musa paradisiaca var. sapientum) towards collagen density of incision wound on rat (Rattus norvegicus). Twenty male rats randomly divided into five groups. P0 (control) group was normal skin, P1 group was incision wound treated with 10% Betadine cream, P2, P3 and P4 was incision wound treated with 10%, 15%, and 20% Ambon banana stem sap cream. All of rats skin samples were collected in 15th day. Then the collected skin samples were made into histopathic preparations and were scored using a microscope. The scoring data were processed and tested using computer program SPSS (Statistical Packed For Social Science). The results of nonparametric test, Kruskall-Wallis test is 0,007 means that significally different (p<0,05) then continues with Mann-Whitney U test. Ambon banana stem sap contains of flavonoid as antioxidant, saponin as an enchancer of collagen proliferation also has antibacterial effect and tanin as an accelerator the wound healing. It can be concluded that 20% Ambon banana stem sap cream can heal much effective and faster on incisied wound as indicated by number of collagen density.
