Abstract
Asian house shrew (Suncus murinus) is an insectivore, they are a reservoir of intestinal worms in humans and animals which have the potential for zoonosis. Asian house shrew (Suncus murinus) might be found in the sewer, traditional market, and slums in large numbers. This study aims to identify the types of parasitic worms, determine the prevalence of worm parasites that infect the gastrointestinal of Asian house shrew (Suncus murinus), and the difference between a worm infection in the gastrointestinal of Asian house shrew (Suncus murinus) in Surabaya City. This research was conducted since April – July 2020. The number of Asian house shrew samples used was 40. The method used was gastrointestinal surgery and then worms staining were done using Semichen-acetic Carmine. It was found one worm parasite Cestode class Hymenolepis nana with a prevalence of 90%.
