Abstract
This research focuses on gender identity problems experienced by the main female characters in the graphic novel titled Bingo Love, Hazel Johnson and Mari McCray. It aims to describe the performativity of the main female characters in the Bingo Love novel through lesbian talk, appearance and physique, and sexual activity using Judith Butler's theory of gender performativity. The research approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The data source used in this study is the Bingo Love graphic novel written by Tee Franklin, Jenn St-Onge, and Joy San. The data in this research are text units related to the formulation of the problem, namely: (1) performativity of lesbian conversation, (2) appearance and physical performativity, and (3) performativity of sexual activity in the novel Bingo Love. The results showed that gender identity in a person can change following the space and time as stated by Judith Butler. This is shown by the two female characters, Hazel and Mari, who show the performativity of lesbian conversation, appearance and physical performativity, and the performativity of sexual activity.
