Abstract

Sunlights have some advantages and disadvantages. The disadvantages are caused by ultraviolet. To avoid the harmful effects, human needs to use sunscreen. One of the sunscreen mechanism is absorbing UV light. Cinnamate is one of groups which can absorb UV, for example p-Methoxy Cinnamate Acid (PMCA). Solid Lipid Nanoparticle (SLN) is a one of drug and cosmetic delivery-system. Solid Lipid Nanoparticle represents drugentrapment capability, emmolient and decreasing toxicity. In addition, SLN could form film formation which increases occlusivity. SLN could be made by High Shear Homogenization method with Beeswax-Glyceryl Monostearate (50:50) as lipid base. In this study, it was investigated how was the effectivity of PMCA as sunscreen agent in SLN system, compared with simple cream system. The result was the effectivity of PMCA sunscreen product in SLN increased, compared with simple cream PMCA, due to its nano-size.
