Abstract

Eutectic mixtures were formed by two components, ibuprofen and stearate acid. Characteric of eutectic mixture show the melting point’s eutectic mixture were the lowest from each component’s eutectic mixtures. The purpose of the research was to study eutectic effect of ibuprofen-stearate acid against disintegration time and dissolution rate of tablets. Ibuprofen and stearate acid could be eutectic mixture in 40:60, 50:50 and 60:40 composition. In investigation eutectic mixture, Differential Thermal Analysis was used in experiment. Phase diagram ibuprofen-stearate acid showed eutectic mixture in that composition. Tablet of Eutectic mixture was also formed by different compression force 14,95 kN; 19,93 kN and 24,91 kN. The results showed that different composition of each component didn’t affect the disintegration time. However, 100:0 composition indicated a significant change, probability value 0,00 (< 0,05). Tablet compression force differences didn’t affect the disintegration time, probability value 0,084 (>0,05). The other results showed that different composition of each component didn’t affect the dissolution rate. However, 100:0 composition indicated a significant change, probability value 0,00 (< 0,05). Tablet compression force differences didn’t affect the dissolution rate, probability value 0,977 (>0,05). In conclusion, eutectic of ibuprofen-stearic acid didn’t affect disintegration time and dissolution rate of tablet because stearate acid hydrophobic properties and the formation of boundary layer more affected disintegration time and dissolution rate changes.
