Abstract
White supremacy is one of the issues that make many people in America get verbally and mentally attacked because the difference of their skin colors, even religions. It confirms the superiority of the white people over other race in every aspect. In most cases, the media portrays the other race as a threat to their ideological value and religion. One of the media that commonly used to shape people’s understanding over something is movie. In this era, Hollywood movies are well known in every country in the world. One example of Hollywood movie which depicts white supremacy is Dr. Strange (2016). In conducting this study, the writer chooses to use Orientalism because the context of this movie is the Orient. The Orient is the white’s understanding over the eastern part of the world (not limited to China and Japan) and the whites are called Occidental. The writer conducts this study using qualitative method by examining the narrative and non-narrative aspects of the movie. Through this examination, the writer finds that the ideology of white supremacy exists and the Others seems to affirm the supremacy.
