Abstract

Candidisis is one of the most common opportunistic disease that occur in HIV stage 4 (AIDS) patients. HIV patients decreased immune system becomes a major risk factor infected with candidiasis. Presence of other diseases, caused the high prevalence of multiple drug use, that increases the risk of DRPs. This study documented therapy of antifungal received by HIV/AIDS patients at Inpatients Installation of UPPI Dr.Soetomo General Hospital Surabaya in order to assess drug utilization by knowing the type of antifungal, dosage regimens, route of administrations, and possibility of DRPs associated with the use of antifungal in inpatient UPIPI Dr. Soetomo Hospital Surabaya, during the period of 1 January-30 June 2013. It was an observational study, with descriptive retrospective research method, data collection technique were using time limited sampling period of 1 January-30 June 2013. The result showed that from the 50 patients who met the inclusion criteria, candidiasis with HIV/AIDS by more experienced male (64%) than female (36%) while the age range of most patients were in group of 35-39 years (24%). Most of the comorbid disease was candidiasis oris (94%). DRPs identified in this study include inappropriate indication, inappropriate dose, potential drug interactions and potential side effect.
