Abstract
This research purposed to find the way of Benny Arnas’s short stories Sejumlah Alasan Mengapa Tiap Anak Sebaiknya Melahirkan Seorang Ibu (SAMTASMSI) motherhood figures’s subjectivity, Data of this study spread into descriptions of motherly figure in each short story using Julia Kristeva’s other and motherhood role model and Kristeva’s feminine writing which allow the validity of a male author to write a feminine writing.. Result of the study concludes that Kristeva’s model of mother and motherhood combined with her concept of feminine writing method in SAMTASMSI unveils the repetitive patterns of contradictory characterization in SAMTASMSI. This contradictory served in any model of mother in order to show the subjectivity of the mother figure.
