Abstract

Background. High noble alloy has been replaced by base metal alloy because of the endurance to corrosion and more reachable material cost. Material base metal alloy which is mostly used chromium. Unfortunately, chromium has high toxins. The dust of chromium that is inhaled can cause the ruin of the liver, kidney, lung, and even cancer. Dental technician as person who do contact with the material directly has high occupational risk to get the chromium exposure. The usage of self protection tool and the knowledge about the impact that will happen, will give influence the chromium exposure that is accepted by the body. Purpose. The aim of the research is analyzing the correlation between dental technician's knowledge about self protection tool while working with the levels of chromium exposure in the blood. Method. First, whole blood of dental technicians have been taken about 3milliliter and then it has been examined the levels of chromium exposure by spectrophotometer examination. Second, dental technicians have been asked to fill the questionnaire. Third, the researcher has been observed dental technicians directly. Conclusion. From this research is gotten the result that there is no significant correlation between dental technician's knowledge with the levels of chromium exposure.
