Abstract

This study aims to analyze the water quality of Brantas River from year to year and to find out the quality status of Brantas River based on NSF-WQI and STORET methods. Water quality measurement uses secondary data with parameters of TDS, TSS, pH, BOD, COD, DO, total phosphate, nitrate, ammonia, and fecal coliform in 2015 to 2019. The calculation of water quality index used refers to the NSF-WQI method with several adjustments so that it uses 10 measurement parameters. East Java Regional Regulation Number 2 Year 2008 is used as a reference for quality standards to determine the result of scoring on STORET method. Sampling point is located in the upstream to downstream Brantas River with a total of 8 locations. The average value from 2015 to 2019 for TDS parameters is 255,01 mg/l; TSS 241,75 mg/l; pH 7,76; BOD 5,66 mg/l; COD 13,35 mg/l; DO 6,18 mg/l; total phosphate 0,19 mg/l; ammonia 0,01 mg/l; nitrate 2,3 mg/l; and fecal coliform 4.251 amount/100 ml. Sources of pollutants mostly come from domestic and industrial waste. The NSF-WQI method quality index values showed good quality status or mild pollutation in 5 periods, but changed to moderately polluted at one location in 2017. STORET method scoring results showed poor quality status or severely polluted in 5 periods.
