Abstract

Background: The most common radiographic technique used to see the position of impacted teeth are parallel. However, this technique is the lack of apical tip of mandibular third molar impaction truncated. The principles of SLOB technique, modification technique that is parallel with the change angulation 200 to the distal or mesial. SLOB techniques would produce radiographic images apical tip of mandibular third molar teeth look whole. In this study, to get the right angulasi the writer make a modification of the film holder. Purpose: To see the difference of the radiographic image in the tip of apical mandibular third molar impaction which made by SLOB technique by using the modification from the film holder with angulation 0° (parallel) and distal angulation 20° in UPF Radiologi Kedokteran Gigi RSGMP Fakultas Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Airlangga Surabaya.. Metodh: This was an observational analytic reserach with 24 samples. Each sample get 2 times of exposure, by the SLOB technique angulation 0°(parallel) and angulation 20° to distal. Resul: There was a significance difference in the radiographic images the tip of apical mandibular third molar impaction. This was made by SLOB technique modification using the film holder with angulation 0 °(paralel) and distal 20°. Conclusion: The radiographic image at the apical tip of mandibular third molar impaction appeared intact which is done by the SLOB technique with a angulation of the distal 20°.
