Abstract
Chicken meat is the most consumed meat that contain high protein and easily contaminated by bacteria especially Staphylococcus sp. which can cause food intoxication if not processed properly. This study was aimed to determine the species of Staphylococcus that contain in fresh chicken meat that sold at Yamuri traditional market in Mulyorejo. The samples were taken from several seller at the market. The samples then isolated on MSA 12,5% to ensure that there were no bacteria growth other than Staphylococcus sp. then, the colonies tested using Gram coloring test, catalase test, and colony planting on EMBA. The result of this study showed that 20 from 30 samples contained Staphylococcus sp. with 75% containing S. aureus and 60% containing S. epidermidis
