Abstract
The number of tourist arrivals is experiencing a shock due to COVID-19. The decline in the number of foreign tourist arrivals in Indonesia due to COVID- 19 still shows a trend that has not improved so that an analysis is needed to restore the number of tourist visits. The existence of acts of terrorism that has occurred again in Indonesia recently has exacerbated the situation which is feared will further reduce the number of tourist arrivals. In order to anticipate a decrease in the number of foreign tourist arrivals and accelerate the recovery of tourism demand, this study aims to analyze the factors that influence international tourism demand in Indonesia from the three countries of origin of the most tourists visiting Indonesia, namely Malaysia, Singapore and China. This study uses time series data, namely 2007Q1 to 2019Q4 so that there are 52 observations using the Autoregressive Distributed- Lag (ARDL) estimation technique. The results of this study find that income, relative prices, and substitution prices are the main determinants of international tourism demand in Indonesia; Thailand is a complementary country for Indonesian tourism; alertness to Geopolitical Risk Index and disease outbreaks must always be carried out, and the VAT Refund policy has not shown a major impact on the demand for international tourism in Indonesia.
