Abstract
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a viral pneumonia disease caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Transmission can occur through droplets and close contact with sufferers, the main symptoms are fever, dry cough, dyspnea, fatigue, muscle aches, and headaches. One of the tests as a marker of the severity of infection is D-Dimer, which is a fibrin degradation product formed in the coagulation system by the fibrinolytic system and its levels will increase significantly in patients with severe COVID-19 disease. Another parameter is NLR (Neutrophil Lymphocyte Ratio) to see the presence of a systematic inflammatory response that is used as a determinant of the prognosis of COVID-19 disease. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the description of D-Dimer levels and NLR values as predictors of the severity of COVID-19 disease. The study used a descriptive observational method with 50 samples of COVID-19 patients who underwent D-Dimer and NLR examinations at the Gambiran Regional General Hospital Kediri from May to August 2020. The results of the analysis were based on age and gender distribution, distribution of D-Dimer levels, and distribution of NLR values. Most of the COVID-19 patients were in the 51-60 year age group (42%) with the majority being male. D-Dimer levels in COVID-19 patients showed normal results, namely 58% and high levels in men as much as 39%, while NLR levels with normal results were 32% and high levels in men were 56%. This study shows that age and gender are risk factors for COVID-19 disease and the cause is male.
