Abstract

Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is the occurrence of an infection characterized by the growth and proliferation of bacteria in the upper (pyelonephritis) and lower (cystitis) urinary tract. This study aims to determine the proportion of an incidence of UTI that occurs in inpatients at the Simpang Lima Gumul Hospital, Kediri in 2019-2021 (January-May) and to determine the pattern of bacteria and bacterial resistance to UTI disease. This research uses descriptive observational method. The results of the study in 2019 were 56 UTI patients (37 (66.1%) women and 19 (33.9%) men). There was a decrease in UTI case data in 2020 and 2021, in 2020 there were 25 UTI patients (13 (52%) women and 12 (48%) men). In 2021 (January-May) there were 15 patients (9 (60%) female and 6 (40%) male). In culture, bacterial patterns were found, namely E. Coli, Klebsiella, Pseudomonas, Streptococcus agalactiae, and staphylococcus haemolyticus. The proportion of bacterial resistance that causes UTI in 2020 there were 3 (75%) samples with the type of Escherichia coli (ESBL) bacteria. In 2021 there were 1 (33,34%) samples with the type of Klebsiella pneumoniae (ESBL) bacteria.Cases of UTI that attack inpatients at the Simpang Lima Gumul Hospital attack more women than men. The most common bacteria that infect UTIs is Escherichia coli.
