Abstract
Aflatoxin is one of the factors that affect poultry health and growth. It is known that aflatoxin contaminates a large portion of the world’s food supply. The purpose of this study was to know the effect of 9.58 ppb aflatoxin in feed on carcass absolute and relative weight of laying hens in the early period of growth. Thirty-six laying hens (DOC) were used in this study and divided into T0 and T1, with three subgroups. T0 (control group) was given feed with 100% basal feed, and T1 (treatment group) fed with a composition of 80% basal feed + 20% feed containing aflatoxin. Three periods of data collection are done on the 20th, 40th, and 60th days. The chicken will be slaughtered for data collection at the end of each period. Observation on the relationship of the combined factors between group and treatment duration showed a significant difference (p<0.05) to the absolute weight of whole carcasses, but the relationship between treatment and treatment duration to the absolute weight of chest, back, wings and thighs did not show a significant difference (p>0.05). Observation from the combined factor between group and treatment duration also showed no significant difference (p>0.05) on the relative weight of the whole carcass, breast, back, wings, and thighs. Increasing body weight continues depending on the function of the body's hormesis, which is still going well. This study concludes that giving 9.58 ppb aflatoxin in 20% of the feed has not influenced the absolute and relative weight of the carcass and its component
