Abstract
Toxoplasma gondii is a parasite which infects warm-blood animals, including human. Toxoplasma gondii can a cause zoonotic disease called toxoplasmosis. Cats and felidae include Persian cats are the definitive hosts for Toxoplasma gondii which lives inside their body but only can produce oocysts. The type of food given by cat breeders can also affect the risk of a cat being infected with toxoplasmosis, cats that are often fed with raw minced meat will have a greater risk of being infected with toxoplasmosis because of the cyst inside the raw minced meat they eat. The purpose of this research is to know an oocyst of Toxoplasma gondii in Persian cat feces that is fed with raw meat on a cattery in Surabaya city.This research used 36 samples of Persian cats from five catteries in Surabaya city. 14 samples of Persian cat feces were positively infected by T. gondii. According to the Chi Square Test, it could be concluded that sex, age, and raw meat or non-raw meat feed, do not affect the infection of T. gondii. The average number of T. gondii oocysts (OTGT) in Persian cats fed with raw meat was 240.5 oocysts and in Persian cats fed with non-raw meat was 95.625 oocysts. The number of OTGT was included in the low category (<1000 oocysts). The advice that can be given is raw meat feeding is not recommended to be given to cats and owners must put more attention to cage sanitary and cats hygiene.
