Abstract
This study aims to analyze the water quality of Brantas River and to find out the quality status of Brantas River based on OWQI and Pollution Index method. Water quality measurement uses secondary data with parameters of temperature, pH, DO, COD, BOD5, TSS, NO3-, total phosphate, and fecal coliform in 2017. The calculation of water quality index used refers to the Pollution Index method and OWQI with several adjustments so that it uses 9 measurement parameters. East Java governor regulations Number 61 Year 2010 is used as a reference for quality standards to determine the result on Pollution Index method and OWQI method. Sampling point is located in the upstream, middle and downstream Brantas River with a total of 8 locations. Parameters of temperature, pH, COD, NO3-, and phosphate meet quality standards while parameters BOD5, TSS and fecal coliform do not meet quality standards. The results of the Pollution Index method show that during 2017 the Brantas River in the upstream Brantas River, the Middle Brantas River, and the downstream Brantas River were lightly polluted, this is because the IP score is in the range 1.0 <PIj ≤ 5.0. The results of the OWQI calculation show that the water quality status along the upstream Brantas River, the middle Brantas River and the downstream Brantas River is very bad on average, this is evidenced by the OWQI value in the range 10-59.
