Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of mandatory biodiesel policy on the profitability of companies engaged in the palm oil industry. This study uses a sample of four palm oil companies registered with ISSI during the period 2012-2019. Control variables were also used in this study, namely exchange rates, interest rates, and crude palm oil prices. This study uses a quantitative methodology with panel data regression analysis techniques. The results showed that the mandatory biodiesel policy had a significant negative effect on company profitability. Interest rate variable also has a negative effect on company profitability. Meanwhile, crude palm oil prices and foreign exchange rates have no effect on company profitability. This research resulted in recommendations to the biodiesel mandatory policy holders to provide incentives to the involved palm oil companies. This incentive is expected to provide cost relief to palm oil companies that are negatively affected by the biodiesel policyKeyword: Biodiesel B20 and B15 mandatory policies, age, interest rate, company size and crude palm oil price
