Abstract

This study aims to know the differences in fear of intimacy based on adult romantic attachment type in early adults with divorced parents. Fear of Intimacy is an inhibited capacity to exchange significant thoughts and feelings with another individual who is highly valued. Adult romantic attachment type is interaction happening in adult’s romantic relationship that have similar patterns as children’s interaction with their attachment figure. This study was conducted on 191 early adults with divorced parents. The data collection tools used in this study are Fear of Intimacy Scale by Descutner & Thelen and Revised Adult Attachment Scale by Collins & Read. The data analysis technique used are Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U. The result of the analysis showed a significant difference on fear of intimacy based on adult romantic attachment on early adults with divorced parents (p = 0,000 < 0,05).
