Abstract

This study examines Dipo Alam’s report about state-own enterprises (BUMN) bribery by members of Indonesian Parliament in Jawa Pos and Kompas. The issue was made public by Dahlan Iskan, minister of BUMN. The study aims to find out the view of Jawa Pos and Kompas related Dipo Alam’s report about state-own enterprises (BUMN) bribery by members of Indonesian Parliament by identifying the main theme, scheme/organization, and pattern of linguistic features. To achieve the aim, the study uses the socio-cognitive approach developed by van Dijk (1997), especially three dimensions of discourse, which are text, social cognition, and social context. There are three levels in analyzing the dimension of the text: macrostructure, superstructure, and microstructure. In conducting this study, the writer uses the qualitative method. Based on the analysis conducted, Jawa Pos in its news report tends to be not neutral by underrating a report to Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) by Dipo Alam, the Indonesian cabinet secretary. On the other hand, Kompas tends to be neutral in presenting the news.
